-Listed Rider Winter/Spring 2014 with HHS Cooley and Fernhill By Night-Californian Liz Halliday-Sharp is a unique sportswoman. Now based in East Sussex, England, she has dedicated her life to the pursuit of two international sporting careers. On the one hand she is an international 3-Day Eventer, while on the other she competes as a professional motor racing driver in sportscar and GT endurance disciplines. Liz is also an experienced TV Broadcaster and Presenter and has worked with numerous different channels and companies in both the USA and Europe. After many years of appearing in both sports simultaneously, Liz recently began dedicating more time to her eventing pursuits, with the ultimate ambition to one day represent the USA at the Olympic Games, Pan Am Games and World Championships.A brief history:Liz began riding when she was eight-years-old in California and soon found that most of her interest centred around Dressage and Eventing. She was a member of the local Pony Club and competed in and qualified for the national championships multiple times as part of the Southern California team. She also pursued Dressage from a young age and was a regular competitor around the circuit, leading to success at the Junior Dressage Championships in Los Angeles.Liz first moved to England in 2000 to work for British Olympian William Fox-Pitt. She quickly realised the UK was the best location from which to achieve her Eventing and equestrian goals, and over time the country has become a home from home.During her first two years there Liz progressed quickly from Pre-Novice level to Advanced and International 3* competition, and also gained her British Horse Society stages 1-4 and teaching qualification. She now regularly competes at all levels with a variety of horses, both belonging to her and on behalf of clients, across the UK and internationally. Liz has trained up to Prix St. Georges level in Dressage, and is a successful member of both British Dressage and the British Show Jumping Association, ensuring she remains busy with a variety of events throughout the year.Recent developments:Since taking over ownership of Chailey Stud Equestrian Centre in 2010 Liz’s main focus has been to develop and improve the property, which now boasts some of the finest equestrian facilities in southern England. With the use of this great property, along with the help and support of her strong team at Chailey Stud, Liz was able to finish 2013 with two horse qualified for CCI4* competition, and with big goals ahead for the 2014 season. Indeed, 2013 would prove the most successful year of Liz’s career to date after she and Blackie (Fernhill by Night) represented the USA on the Nations’ Cup Team at the Boekelo CCIO3* in Holland, and she and Cooley (HHS Cooley) got the opportunity to compete in the World Equestrian Games Test Event in France, and then later to fly over to the USA to compete in his first CCI3* competition at the end of the year. After closing out the season with a third place finish at the prestigious Galway Downs CCI*** event in California – her first international appearance on American soil – Liz, Cooley and Blackie were added to the USA’s High Performance Training List for Winter/Spring 2014.Liz’s next target is to compete both of her top horses at the 4* level in 2014, and to then gain a place in the USA’s squad for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, which will hopefully act as a stepping-stone to her ultimate ambition of competing at the Rio Olympics a year later. Plans are also in place to spend winters in Ocala, Florida, developing her new equestrian farm which was purchased earlier in 2013. A devoted horsewoman, Liz has a huge amount of belief and respect in her horses. They are true partners and athletes in their own right, and Liz works hard to continually improve her training and competition skills to give her horses the best care and preparation for the future. Continued, long-standing assistance from her dedicated sponsors and support network helps to ensure just that, and Liz is very grateful to have them all behind her.Curriculum Vitae: 2012: First International-level victories, both in the UK• 1st, Brightling Park CIC* • 1st, Aldon CCI* 2013:Best Eventing season to date, with top results in the USA and Europe • 1st, Barroca CIC* (Portugal)• 2nd & 5th, Brightling CIC** (UK)• 3rd, Brightling CIC* (UK)• 4th, Hartpury CCI** (UK)• 12th, WEG Test Event CCI** (France)• 7th & 12th, Ballindenisk CIC*** (Ireland)• 12th, Ballindenisk CCI** (Ireland)• Member of USA Nations Cup Team, Boekelo CCIO***• 3rd, Galway Downs CCI*** (California, USA)• Included in the USA High Performance Training List with Cooley and Blackie for Winter/Spring 2014

This horse is currently based at our farm in England, but I would hope to bring him over to our farm in Ocala in the 2014 winter. Visits are welcomed and we have a lovely home and horse farm in the English country side.
