ABOUT

Quiproquo (“Q”) is an 11 year old Selle Francias gelding. Yves, my mother, and I traveled to France in August 2014 with the goal of purchasing a horse with some upper level experience, but with potential to compete at vigorous competitions such as the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. Q’s body was in terrible condition and was considered mildly emaciated, but his talent was undeniable. It was also an instant match when I rode him. I was able to bring out the best in him and he was able to bring out the best in me. I knew it would be a long journey because of his health, but every moment has been worth it. I was able to compete in my first preliminary on Q at Galway Downs 2014 where we obtained a National Qualifying Result. It was our first show together. Due to his health not being 100% Yves and I decided that we would not compete him in the Spring of 2015, but rather give him time to be healthy again. We were able to start again in June at Inavale Horse Trails in Oregon. Q came back with considerable strength. We started to see a horse that was not only suitable for the two star level, but the three and four star level. We completed the CCI* at the Event at Rebecca Farms in July 2015. He continued to grow stronger, fitter, and more in sync with me. His rehabilitation allowed him to gain weight and muscle as well which was previously lacking. We had average results until Twin Rivers Horse Trials 2015 where we were first after dressage on a 28.2, had our best cross country round yet, and obtained an unfortunate rail in the final phase of showjumping that put us in 2nd in the Jr/YR Open Preliminary. I was elated and so was Yves. Finally our training and relationship had come together in the show ring. Our success continued the rest of the season. We earned a 4th place at Fresno County Horse Park Horse Trails shortly after Twin Rivers where we obtained our first double clean showjumping round at the prelim level and one of the five double clean cross country rounds in all prelim divisions. However, on of our biggest achievements is our 3rd placing in the CCI* at Galway Downs International 2015 out of 51 riders and professional riders. During my fall season Q and I earned 21.0 USEA points which put us in 4th on the Jr/YR Preliminary Leaderboard in Area VI. We achieved this in only three competitions in 2015. We started with a bang in 2016 by winning the JR/YR Open Preliminary at Fresno County Horse Park Horse Trials with a 15.0 point lead. Yves and I then decided to move Q up to the Intermediate level of eventing (one level below the highest level). We have now successfully completed 3 Intermediate level horse trials, one where we achieved 2nd place in an open division, and 2 CIC**'s. Our partnership is stronger than ever. I can undoubtedly say that I have never developed such a close, in-sync, and beautiful relationship with any other horse. We have learned so much from each other in such a short amount of time. Our future is bright and we are determined to make our dreams come true with hard work, dedication, and most of all passion for the sport.
